Smiles Abound as a Brothers’ Bond Strengthens Each Day

Tony and Enzo

Not all sets of brothers will develop a bond that stays with them through life. For those who do get to experience the bond of brotherhood, it can be very special. A bond between brothers is nearly unbreakable and can be one of the strongest bonds in a family setting today.

So, why are we discussing a brotherly bond today? Well, now that I have two sons, I can look back at the bond my brother and I have and watch as Tony and Enzo develop their bond over the years.

Just when I think Tony could not be anymore adorable, he offers a helping hand with Enzo. He genuinely wants to help out as much as he can, even when we change his diaper.

Tony has a little Sesame Street stool that is for the bathroom so he can reach over the counter and wash his hands, but it has been relocated to Enzo’s room for the time being. Tony uses his stool to stand at the changing table and help mommy, daddy or anyone else who is changing Enzo.

On a lighter side, he likes to analyze what Enzo leaves in his diapers, commenting on the size of the presents left for those who change him. We definitely get a kick out of it and he knows we think its funny.

With Enzo fully initiated into our loving family, Tony was able to meet his little brother the morning following his birth. Nicole and I were a little worried at first because you never know how a two-year-old will react to the idea of sharing anything, let alone his parents, with someone else. Well, let’s just say we were more than thrilled with his reaction.

Tony welcomed Enzo with open arms the minute he walked into the mother-baby room at the hospital. He gave him kisses, a hug and even a couple of presents. Enzo reciprocated and the two began to form their brotherly bond that I am so lucky to have with my brother, Chris.

For those of you who know me, I am Italian through and through. I eat, sleep and breathe my Italian heritage. So, when my wife and I started the discussion of having children, we traded ideas for names for both boys and girls. And, no surprise to our family, all of them were steeped in Italian culture. It wasn’t difficult to come to an agreement on the names as we have been together for more than 11 years now.

Our story began on July 1, 2003. Not long after our junior year in high school Nicole and I began to date. Our engagement began on December 18, 2008 and we were married on June 26, 2010. Then, on March 22, 2012, our lives were changed for the better when Anthony Giovanni came into the world.
