It was very hot and humid in Ocean City on Thursday, so Tony and Enzo had a day at the “OC Pool.” Daddy blew up the kiddie pool, filled it with water and put it in the back driveway.
Tony took to the pool immediately, using his toy fire extinguisher backpack to help fill it, while Enzo screamed at the top of his lungs for a couple of minutes before finally sitting down in the water.
Enzo is funny; he loves sitting and playing in the gullies on the beach, but absolutely hates getting a bath or putting his feet in the ocean water. Once he warmed up to the pool, Enzo had a lot of fun too, playing with his boat and splashing Tony with water.
Every so often, Enzo would stand up in the pool and try to climb over the wall to get out because he wanted to roam around the property. Mommy took him out of the pool and put him in his blue car.
Daddy went to the freezer in the garage and took out a couple of freeze pops, a lemon one for Enzo and a cherry one for Tony. Enzo hated the lemon freeze pop to the point where he squeezed it until it fell out of the packaging and onto the ground. He then played with the empty package for a couple of minutes in his blue car.
Mommy had music playing on her phone, much to the delight of Enzo, as he danced and bopped away while sitting in his blue car. You can watch him jam out to the tunes in the video provided in this post.
Enzo finally had enough of the water and went inside with Mommy, while Tony stayed outside to play in the pool and put out “fires” all over the back driveway. He also had fun squirting Nonna and her car.
It took a little coaxing to get Tony to come back into the house after an hour or so at the “OC Pool,” but we finally had success. Nonna told Tony he could go inside, use the big boy potty and get a piece of candy.
After about a half hour sitting on his Elmo potty, Tony actually did his business and walked away successful. He was so excited to tell me about it and to get his candy reward. We will take it as a step in the right direction as we continue to encourage him to use the potty.
