Oh the joys of having a school-aged child.
Tony is in Pre-K 4. He came home from school with Nonna yesterday and announced that he got married.
You read that correctly. Tony got married. Think about it; who among us didn’t come home from school one day and announce that we got married?
Well, for one, I don’t remember making that announcement when I was a child.
To protect the innocent we will not name the girl who supposedly married Tony.
All I know is he came home married, they went on a honeymoon and they have a baby already.
I always thought Tony was wise beyond his years, but this is a little too wise for me. Married by Pre-K 4. What will he do next?
This is the same kid who gets upset with me when I tell him it’s time to go get a job so he can start paying the rent.
Sadly, the news of Tony getting married will upset one girl. Tony met a friend of ours named Miss Amanda at Cinnaminson Day back in October.
She helped him through the obstacle course set up by the Cinnaminson Fire Department.
Tony came home from school one day and showed me a picture he made. It was a firefighter. I asked him if it was his Uncle CJ. He said no. I asked him if it was his Uncle Jimmy. He said no. I asked him if it was his Uncle Matt. He said no.
Tony finally gave in and said that it was Miss Amanda.
Well Miss Amanda, Tony’s married now.
Nonna took us to dinner at Whistler’s last night and told our waiter that Tony got married at school earlier in the day. The waiter treated him like a king (thanks Scott).
Tony ordered lemonade, but instead of getting it in a kid cup, he was given it in a big boy cup due to his nuptials. Tony also got his silverware handed to him wrapped in fine linen.
So, congratulations are in order for Tony and his bride.
But, wait, Tony just got home from school and I’m hearing he’s no longer married.
Such a shame. A budding relationship cut short in the cruel, fast-paced world of Pre-K 4.
What will tomorrow bring?
We can only wait and see as Tony’s world turns.
