Aunt Kathy decided a couple of months ago that she wanted to surprise Uncle Pete with a 30th birthday party at a Camden Riversharks game.
There were some 30 people at the party, including both Tony and Enzo. It was Enzo’s first baseball game. Tony went to a Phillies game back in 2013 for his first.
Tony lined up with the other children in attendance to yell surprise when Uncle Pete walked through the door of the suite.
There was plenty of food, snacks and cake for everyone to enjoy. Tony loved walking in and out of the suite door onto the grandstand to sit in a stadium seat.
He also went on the merry-go-round in the left-field corner.
Enzo ‘purchased’ a soft baseball from the team store and he fell asleep in the eighth inning of a 20-0 loss for the Riversharks.
Tony also got to meet Finley, the mascot for the Riversharks. Tony wasn’t too happy to meet Finley, despite his love of the characters in Disney World, but we made it work.
At one point, Nicole had to stand behind the shark and hold Tony’s hand so he would take a picture with Finley.
Tony had a blast with all of the kids in attendance for the surprise party, ate plenty of ballpark food and even enjoyed a bowl of ice cream at the end of the game with sprinkles!
He actually sang to Uncle Pete when the candles on the cake were lit, which has been tough of late to get him to do, but he did it.
Enzo tried mac-and-cheese, ate ice cream and was passed around the room from guest to guest much like every other family gathering.
The best part of the entire day was that Uncle Pete got to spend it with all of his nieces and nephews, who love him dearly.
